The 5th International Conference on the Food Factory for the Future was held in Gothenburg from June 30th to July 2nd. , Sweden. 120 delegates from 26 countries attended the conference, which shows the growing interest in the theme we deal with. The conference focused on four topics: Since 2001, Alternately in Gothenburg and in Laval (France, 2004, 2008), the Food Factory conferences are becomming the time and the place for presenting scientific advances to the food industry, and for initiating new research projects on a European scale. Over the years, they will be the base for international clusters focusing on food process. In this time of economic and environmental crisis, when sustainability of the industry is becoming more and more supported by citizens and governments, we must ask the question: "What is the food factory for the future?". We hope that the future of the food industry will be sketched in our conferences. In this perspective, the brokerage event organized alongside the conferences, in cooperation with the EEN and Hightech Europe Networks, was successful. It was an excellent opportunity for the delegates to meet and share ideas in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. There is no doubt that it will help to establish pathways for the future.
We look forward to seeing you again in Laval for Food Factory 2012, probably in the end of June.
